9月30日 Fall ParadeParade
What a wonderful morning it has been. I took my 2-year-old grandson to a parade today. It has been over 10 years since I was last at a parade. I used to take my kids all the time and really enjoyed it. Well, today was the day for the “Gladfest” celebration. One of many fall festivals held here in the city. The parade, although not the biggest or the best in the city, it was chucked full of all the memories I had with my children. This time I was blessed to share it with my grandson. He loved it, I loved it, and all the candy we collected will be eaten by me. Lol lol
Here is a quick story about my grandson. He found this pretty little girl to play with in the park. After giving her a huge hug, they ran all over the place and even held hands while going down the slide. How cute. I was thinking, “way to go boy, charm those ladies”. Lol Then, out of nowhere, he told her had to “poop” and promptly did his thing in his diaper. I about died. Welcome to the life of a two year old I guess. By the way, the girl just waited until he was done and they kept playing. (I wasn’t going to change it!!!)
Missouri is leading Colorado at the moment so go Tigers. Good luck to KU against Nebraska tonight and Go Ducks!! Well, maybe the badgers of WI can make a come back.
Enjoy, Ed9月28日 Grand parentingSpending time here with my grandsons and just kicking back. The weather is changing and I am so looking forward to the spectacular fall show of trees. One of the drives I take is down through the Ozarks of Missouri. I will try and post some pictures of the beautiful fall colors later in October.
It is another football weekend. Go Chiefs. We are 0-2 and really need a win. Perhaps the 49’s will give us a break this Sunday and “let” us win. Lol How are your teams doing? College football and basketball along with pro football are sports I really enjoy following. Oh yes, Nascar is in town this weekend. Go hard and turn left.
The song that is playing is a real tearjerker for me. Anyone who is parent of a daughter and has seen her get married will understand completely. Things have not turned out for her as planned so this song is even more poignant. If you get a chance, listen to all the words and then try to hold back a tear.
Have a super duper weekend all.
Enjoy, Ed9月23日 Who is Smarter?Man Vs Woman
A University of Ontario, Canada study recently brought to light some possible answers to the age old question: “Who is smarter; Men or women?” Their findings showed that men have about 100 more grams of brain tissue than women. They also studied SAT scores of males and females. Can you guess what that result was? Well, it seems, that according to the study, men scored on average 3% higher than their comparable counter parts.
Ok, what does this mean to you? My previous post was not intended to be a poll on who is smarter but many of you gave your opinion anyway. Thank you. Here is my take on the question. Does higher test scores (SAT, ACT, IQ) mean you are smarter? I really don’t think so. To me we are all gifted in some way. Some of us are great engineers, some are service providers, some are teachers, some are caregivers, some are doctors etc, etc etc. Using one’s gift for the benefit of mankind and for those we love, to me, is the true test of intelligence. Are you able to use what you are good at to help others? Are you able to use your gift to care for those you love? Are you able to use your gift to make you happy? It is not about money, it is not about fame, it IS about doing good. To me, this is the sign of someone who is “smart” about life. So, is there a difference between a woman and a man? You bet, and thank God for that. One last thought about man vs woman? It is generally thought that humans only use about 10% of their brain. Who uses more of that 10 %: Man or Woman?
I am home on the weekend for the first time in over two months. Ready to sit back, relax, drink and beer and enjoy football. Ok, I know that may be a man thing, but we do what we enjoy. Lol

I am back again from a couple of trips out of town. On Thursday of last week I delivered some movies to theaters around Missouri. Then on Friday I got a call and took off in the afternoon to deliver a van to Los Angeles. Upon returning from California on Sunday night I had to make a quick trip to Iowa to check on my parents. Finally home now and I so ready to stay home for at least a day. Lol
A couple of stories to tell of my trip to LA. While driving in the mountains of western Colorado and eastern Utah I was surprised by what I saw. The mountains showed some beautiful fall colors. I believe it was some sort of maple tree. It surprised me to see such a wonderful array of reds in the mountains. Sorry, no pictures this trip. I was in a hurry to get home.
The second story is about my plane ride back. Well, actually getting ready for my plane trip. The jet was about 45 minutes arriving at LAX for our flight back to KC. Then, when we were finally on the plane and ready to go, the captain said “no go”. You see, they had scanned for 137 passengers but only counted 136. They HAD to account for the missing passenger. He said they would have to take roll call (remind you of grade school?). If it turned out the missing passenger had started to board the plane, took off, and had checked luggage, then all the bags would have to be taken off the plane and screened again. Oh my, I was thinking 2-3 hour delay. About half way through the roll call they found the error (Their error by the way). We were finally airborne and only 1 hour late to our final destination.
Ok, about the title of this entry. Who is smarter, men or women? I will leave you in suspense and post my results later. Lol

Back after a wonderful time in the San Francisco Bay area. The flight out via Midwest Airlines went well but picking up the rental car took forever. The reward was they were out of my type of car so I got an upgrade. A nice Chrysler Pacifica.
Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge was awesome, fog and all. I spent the first night in Mill Valley/Sausalito. I will let the pictures tell the story of where all I went and saw.
As always it is great to be back. Hope all have been well and will try to catch up on blog walking as soon as I can.
Enjoy, Ed9月6日 The HurtWhen Does Hurt End?
The seasons change For this I am certain When summer ends Fall raises its curtain
When does hurt end? What is to follow?
Our bodies break down To the doctor we go The medicine kicks in We are back in the flow
When does hurt end? Is there a pill to swallow?
When my car does not run I go to the shopThe mechanic makes quick work My car now runs like a top
When does hurt end? Do I need a special tool?
My emotions are spent From recent family issues I turn to a friend For guidance and a tissue
When does hurt end? Does my friend have the rule?
Time has the answer For when my hurt will end Time will tell me To let my heart mend

Wishing all a great week and weekend ahead. I am off to San Francisco and the wine country of Napa Valley for a few days. I do wish I liked wine a bit more. Lol I should be back sometime next week.
Enjoy, Ed9月4日 Ontario TripMy most recent trip out to LA was ok. Leaving very early Thursday morning took me through Oklahoma City and then west on I-40. I guess I was just bored as I drove all the way to Gallup, New Mexico that first day. (Over 1000 miles) Gallup is home to 3 very large Indian Tribes. Their influence is everywhere you look. Even the morning continental breakfast at the motel had a Native Indian flavor.
The next day I only drove a little over 600 miles. Taking a much slower pace I made a lot of stops. I was trying to find some native turquoise earrings but was too early at all the shops for them to be open. I did finally find some at a gas station but is said “Made in China”, so I passed on that.
My plan was to stop in Williams, AZ for a look at the Grand Canyon Railway. This historic train takes passengers on a scenic ride to the top of the south rim. Back in the 30’s and 40’s, the railway was the major transportation to the rim. That must have been an elegant time at the “Harvey House” accommodations. Ever meet a Harvey Girl? Lol Anyway, my plans were foiled as my camera would not work. The 3 pictures I have displayed are simply shots on the run using my old “play” camera. Sorry, but best I could do.
My final destination was Ontario, CA at my motel. Finding a room that night was a bit difficult, not to mention pricey. Nascar was having their big race at Fontana, just 10 minutes from my motel. I flew out Saturday morning and was glad to be home.
Busy babysitting here and running after my two grandsons. All keep in touch.
Enjoy, Ed |
